Gratuity is a type of adjustment for setting the amount of money given to a person (such as an order taker) who has performed a service at a venue. This is separate from the tip screen that appears to the guest on the customer facing display of a Clover device.
Within Manager, Gratuity can be set at the Venue level as the Default under General Settings. Alternatively, it can be set per Location at the Location level.
Gratuity can be set to be applied manually by the order taker or automatically applied to every order. Manual gratuities can be set to a specific dollar amount or percentage or customized which means applied in real time on the register. Automatic gratuities can be set to a specific dollar amount or percentage.
In suites, contracts between the suite holder and the venue often state a specific automatic tip to apply to every order. This can be configured as an automatic fixed Gratuity that will apply to every order at that location. Gratuities may also be associated with Suite Accounts, which allows a Gratuity to be associated with a preorder and any tabs created for that Suite on Event Day.
