You can enable a Location to accept a Tab as a payment option. This article explains how to enable and use Tabs.

How to Enable Tabs at a Location
To enable tabs at a Location,
1. Navigate to POS Manager > Locations.
2. Under Payment and Checkout Settings (or Payment Settings), check Tab and Tab No Card. These payment options then appear on the tender screen at checkout for any register signed into that Location.
How to Manage Tabs on the Register
Once enabled, the Tab and/or Tab No Card appear on the tender screen for that Location. To start a tab, tap the appropriate tab option.
- Tab prompts you to add the credit card to the tab that can be used to close the order later.
- Tab No Card allows you to run a tab without a credit card swipe until check out.
Tapping on Tab displays any existing Tabs (With Card). You may add items to an existing tab or create a new one by tapping Create New Tab.
At this time, the guest is prompted to insert, swipe, or tap their card.
- Note: Inserting the card results in the Cardholder's Name as Tab name. Tap to pay results in the Card Number as the Tab name. To learn how to change the Tab name, click here.
Tapping on Tab No Card displays any existing Tabs (No Card). You may add items to an existing tab or create a new one by tapping Create New Tab.
Then, type the Tab Name and tap Submit.
Tab Actions on the Orders Page
To view and edit an existing tab, navigate to the orders page.
1. Tap the Orders button from the register (You can also navigate to the Orders screen from the Home Screen).
2. On the Orders page, tap Open Tabs to view existing open tabs.
3. Tap on a tab to see the details of the order.
When viewing a tab, you can:
- Add items to the tab
- Split checks - For more information on how to split checks, click here.
- Void individual items or the whole order
- Print the receipt
- Transfer the Order Taker
- Edit the Tab Name
- Checkout (close the tab)
4. Tap Checkout to display the tender screen to close out the order. See section How to Close a Tab for more information.
How to View All Orders and Filter by Order Takers
1. Tap Orders.
2. Tap All Orders.
3. Tap Filter by Order Taker.
4. Tap the correct Order Taker. Now you are viewing the Orders of that Order Taker.
- To remove the Filter, tap Remove All Filters. Now you are viewing All Orders.
- To go back to the original logged in Order Taker's orders, tap Back to [Order Taker]'s Orders
How to Change a Tab Name
1. Tap Orders.
2. Tap Open Tabs.
3. Tap the relevant Tab.
4. Tap the pencil icon next to the Order Number.
5. Type the new tab name.
6. Tap Submit.
How to Transfer Order Taker
If there is a shift change, you may transfer open tabs to another Order Taker to take over.
1. Tap Orders.
2. Tap Open Tabs.
3. Tap the relevant Tab.
4. Tap the person icon next to the pencil icon.
5. Use the keyboard to search for the new order taker to assign the order to.
6. Tap Submit.
The new order taker now sees the tab under their Open Tabs section.
How to Print All Open Tabs
If you are managing several open tabs, you may print all open tabs at once to present to the guest to save time at closeout.
1. Tap Orders.
2. Tap Open Tabs.
3. Tap Print All Open Tabs.
4. Tap Yes. The bolded number is the number of open tabs that will print.
How to Void a Tab
1. Navigate to the Open Tab.
2. Select the Open Tab.
3. Tap the Void Order.
A confirmation prompt appears before you void an order to ensure it's intentional. Voiding cancels the payment authorization; if done by mistake, the payment must be re-processed.
How to Close a Tab
1. Navigate to the Open Tab.
2. Click Checkout.
3. Select the appropriate payment method.
- Note: If you start a Tab (with card) you may tap Close Tab to close the order to that card. Otherwise, you must select Credit or another payment method.
4. If Digital Tips are enabled at the Location, the guest is prompted to tip on the Customer Facing Display.
How to Void a Line Item
1. Navigate to the Open Tab.
2. Select the Open Tab.
3. Tap Void.
4. Enter the Void Quantity.
5. Tap Submit.
