Items in Clover Sport Manager represent sellable items, or Menu Items. When creating an Item, you can customize the item's name, price, and more. This article explains how to prepare Items to be sold.

Overview
Items are the most basic building blocks of a menu. Items are stored in a menu and are organized by Menu Categories.
If you use Clover Sport inventory then Stock Items will be associated with the Menu Items through a Recipe. For more information on Stock Items, click here.
Create an Item
To create a new Item,
1. Navigate to POS Manager > Menu Manager.
2. Click Create.
3. Select Item.
4. Fill out the following information. Click the links below to navigate to the section with more detail about the fields in that section.
- Item Details - Basic details like name and price

Groups - The item's Reporting and Tax Groups.
- Note: If you do not attach a Tax Group, the item will not be taxed. If you do not attach a Reporting Group, the item will report under No Reporting Group.
- Inventory and Tracking - Connect Recipes to Items to track perpetual inventory (must have purchased inventory module)
- Modifier Groups - Modifiers are additional selections or options for that Item. Ex.) A drink can have modifiers for small, medium, and large sizes
- Menus and Overrides - Add the Item to a menu that will display on the Station Duo or Flex device at the Location the Menu is attached to
Item Details
Complete the following fields of the Item:

Name - The name of the item as it will appear in on the register.

Display Name - The name of the item as it will appear in Kiosk. The Display Name must be less than 30 characters. The Display Name is inherited from what you type in the Name field unless you choose to override it with a different name.

Note: The Display Name does not show up on the OCPO Portal for customers using Suites preordering. The OCPO Portal will display whatever the Name of the item is.

Type - The type of item controls how it functions on the Register
- Standard Item - Item with price

Weighted - Item with a price per ounce.

- After selecting the menu item type as Weighted, you are prompted to enter your Default price per ounce and the Tare Weight.
- Weighted Items will show a price per ounce in the cart. The weight of the item will be the scale's weight minus the Tare Weight.

- Gift Card - Item that allows you to reload a stored-value gift card with a balance through our Bucks module

Open Price - Item that prompts you to input a price when tapped. Ex) a market price lobster whose price changes frequently

Image - The Item Image displays in customer-facing menus such as Kiosk or Mobile Ordering

Note: Clover Sport only supports Landscape images that are at least 880 x 495 resolution

Default Price - The default price the item will have when added to a menu

Category - Where on the menu the item will be organized on the point of sale screen

SKU - The Item's SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) is the barcode used to be able to scan items at a register or Kiosk instead of tapping the Menu Item. Certain integrating partners also use the SKU field.
- Note: If you do not input a barcode, Clover Sport autogenerates a 6-digit SKU. The auto-generated SKU is not scannable.

Note: The SKU must be unique for each Item. SKUs cannot be repeated across multiple Menu Items.

Weight - Allows you to record the weight of the item. This information is optional and does not display on the register or kiosk. Certain integrating partners will make use of this field.

Description - The description of the item as it appears on the Kiosk. There is a 1000 character limit on the description.

Alcoholic Item - Flags this Item as Alcoholic for use at the Kiosk. You may limit alcohol sales or turn them off at certain times on the Kiosk if the item is marked as alcoholic. This will also allow you to limit to 2 alcoholic beverages per person on the Kiosk.
Flagging the item as alcoholic also will print a message at the top of a printed receipt that says "CHECK ID!"
Flagging the item as alcoholic will also print a message at the top of a printed ticket/chit if you are doing remote fulfillment that says "CHECK ID!"
The above example shows that the 20oz Coffee will appear on the Register and in Clover Sport Manager as "20oz Coffee". On Kiosk, it will show up as its Display name as "Large Coffee."
Tax Groups and Reporting Groups
In the Groups section, you can add a Tax Group and a Reporting Group. It is important to ensure these are added to every item as the system will not prompt you to add them when you save a new menu item.

Inventory and Tracking
Inventory and Tracking includes the Recipe and the External Item ID.
- A Recipe is a collection of one or more stock Items used to track inventory for the menu item it is connected to. When creating or editing an Item, you can add an existing recipe to the Item here. To learn more about Recipes, click here.

- The External Item ID serves as an Item ID for certain third-party integrations. You may leave it blank.
Modifier Groups
Modifier Groups are collections of one or more modifiers that can adjust an Item such as toppings, cup sizes, or extra ingredients.
To add a Modifier Group, type the name of the Modifier Group in the text field.
When adding a Modifier Group If the Modifier Group exists, it shows up as you type. If the modifier group doesn't exist, then you may click Create. To learn more about Modifier Groups, click here.
Menus and Overrides
The Menus and Overrides section is where you attach the Item to an existing Menu.
1. Search for and click the name of the Menu.
2. On the Menu Item detail popup, you may change the price of the Item for this menu only and assign a Print Group. Print groups only need to be added if you are routing the items to a kitchen or bar printer or a Kitchen Display System (KDS). For more information about remote fulfillment, click here.
3. Click Done.
4. Click Save.

Archive a Menu Item
While Menu Items cannot be deleted, they may be archived. Archiving a Menu Item removes it from the menus it is currently connected to.
- Note: Before archiving a Menu Item, be sure to disconnect any Recipes that you currently have associated with the Menu Item.

Note: Archived items will automatically move to the bottom of the Exported Menu Item list.
- You may want to add a Z at the beginning of the Menu Item before archiving it so you can identify where archived items begin on the list.
To archive a Menu Item,
1. Navigate to POS Manager > Menu Manager > Menu Items.
2. Click the Item you wish to archive.
3. Click the three dots in the upper right of the Menu Item.
4. Click Archive.
5. At the prompt, click Archive again.
View Archived Menu Items and Unarchive Menu Items
To view the Archived Items,
1. Click the down carat next to Viewing X Menu Items.
2. Click View Archived Items.
- Note: You may click the three dots on an archived Menu Item to unarchive it at any time. Unarchiving the Menu Item will put it back on every Menu it was currently attached to.
- Be sure to re-attach the Recipe if you plan on tracking this item in Inventory.
